Biography:
Don Elje was born in a small village near Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Having inherited a large area of land from his father, he began earning his living by planting maize and agave. He lost all his fortune in a huge fire caused by a fallen cigarette which destroyed all his crop. This misfortune forced Don Elje to start life new; therefore he crossed the Río Grande and settled in El Paso, Texas. As an illegal immigrant he led the life of a runaway. Drinking his sorrow away in sinister nightclubs, he got to know Ned Ryker who introduced him into the world of Texas Hold'Em. Having nothing to lose, he bet all his money he had earned as a day labourer and won. With the newly won money he bought a little cottage and continued his life as a farmer. However, he couldn't resist the temptation of playing Poker again and some day followed his former teacher to Kiel, Germany, Europe and joined the Herrenabend Hold'Em League. How he earns his living in Germany and why he can speak German fluently and accent-free now, remains a mystery.
